Constipation is a very common side effect of GLP1 and that over time it normally settles (up to a few weeks or 1-2 months). GLP-1 medications slow down the digestive process keeping the food longer in the guts, which may cause constipation
There are several lifestyle strategies that can ease your symptoms:
- Eat smaller portions more frequently
- Physical activity and moving might help to maintain regular bowel movement - walking is beneficial
- Toilet time training: sit on the toilet the same time every day, even if you don’t need to go - your body will learn that it’s the right time to go :)
